Out-of-network reimbursement

What is a superbill, and how does it work?

A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes the diagnosis and procedure codes for your visit. Many PPO insurance plans will reimburse a portion of an out-of-network visit when you submit a superbill.

After each appointment, we'll provide your superbill so you can submit it to your insurance company. The amount reimbursed depends on your specific plan's out-of-network benefits.

Before your visit, it may help to ask your insurance plan:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible, and has it been met?
  • What percentage of the visit cost is reimbursed for out-of-network psychiatric care?
  • Is there a limit on the number of visits covered per year?
Frequently asked questions

Common questions about care at NoriMind.

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

No. You can book an initial evaluation directly with NoriMind without a referral from a primary care provider.

How soon can I be seen?

Most new patients are able to schedule their initial evaluation within one to two weeks, significantly faster than the typical wait for in-person psychiatric care in California.

Can NoriMind prescribe controlled substances, like medications for ADHD?

Yes. Our physician assistants are authorized to prescribe a range of medications, including certain controlled substances, in accordance with California law. Whether a specific medication is appropriate is determined on a case-by-case basis during your evaluation.

Where in California can I receive care?

NoriMind provides telehealth services to patients located anywhere in California at the time of their visit. You'll just need a private space and a stable internet connection.

Will I see the same clinician every time?

Yes. You'll be matched with one physician assistant for your initial evaluation and all follow-up visits, so your care plan develops with someone who knows your history.

What if I need to be seen urgently, outside of a scheduled visit?

NoriMind is not an emergency service. If you are experiencing a medical emergency or having thoughts of harming yourself, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. You can also call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7.

How do I pay for my visit?

Payment is collected at the time of your visit by credit or debit card. You'll receive a receipt and superbill that can be submitted to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Is my information kept private?

Yes. NoriMind follows all HIPAA privacy and security requirements. Your health information is kept confidential and is only used as needed to provide your care.
